Q. Do I need a web site?

A. Do you need to communicate the professionalism, quality and reliability of your company? Do you need advertising? Do you need to communicate to key stakeholders? Do you need a way for people to get more information about your business such as your location, contact information and what separates you from your competitors? Do you have a product you'd like to have for sale all over the world, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week? Do you want to impress your present and future customers? If you answered yes to any of these questions than you need a web site.

Q. Why do I need a web site?

A. Having a web site is the most cost-effective form of advertising available today. It establishes a local, national and even international presence 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Imagine what it would cost for other media advertising with such coverage.

You probably receive routine questions daily, or your employees may receive questions they cannot answer. Your web site provides a great way to communicate this information to all of your customers for them to view on their own time. They can surf leisurely through your business' information, finding the right answers to the right questions all day every day.

Q. Is design really that important?

A. Image is everything. The Internet is the great leveling field of the 21st century. A small business with a professional-looking web site can now compete with larger businesses. The inverse is also true - if you have a poor looking web site it will communicate to potential customers that you do not pay attention to the details and they will turn to your competitors who have professional web sites.

When someone visits your web site they should be drawn in. They should be impressed with what they see and return to your site in the future. The design and content are the two components that achieve this goal. The smallest design elements, such as a distracting animation, slow-loading page or text that is difficult to read, can repel potential customers.

We take your business seriously as you do and will communicate that to your customers. We have studied design, advertising and public relations. Communications is our specialty. Your web site will be presented in a way to best present your content and what key messages you want to communicate to your customers.

Q. My friends' nephew can design a web site; do I really need a professional web designer?

A. Everyone knows someone who is good with a computer. Perhaps these "friends of a friend" even know how to use a "drag and drop" program to make a "web site." My five-year-old nephew could probably do it if he was told. However, that does not mean he should. This is especially true when it concerns your business.

Eventually you will discover when you do not hire a professional to do the job you will get an unprofessional product. This is as true for a web site as it is any other product. Sure, you may save a little bit of money, but you get what you pay for.

Here is one example. Let's say that you are the owner of an RV company and you had a nephew who liked to use his father's tools. Would you pay that nephew to fix the transmission on your RV? Obviously not, because your customers are at stake. A web site is no different. If you want the job done right the first time you will work with a professional, not someone who does this "on the side." This will save you a lot of time, headache and money in the end.

Q. How can I learn more?

A. It's simple! Just give us a call at 205.989.9934 or contact us. When you contact us please have a general idea of what your needs and wants are. If you have no clue, please look through our portfolio for some examples of our previous work, which will help you brainstorm ideas for menus, fonts, colors, layouts and more.

Q. How much does a web site cost?

A. How much does a house cost? Ask a contractor and he or she will need to ask you all of the details or your project to give you an estimate. We work the same way. We will be happy to offer you a free consultation to determine your project needs. Together we will come up with an idea of how your web site will look and offer you an estimate on how much it will cost.

Q. How do you charge?

A. You only have to pay half of your total project cost at the signing of the contract. Then we will immediately begin work on your new web site, checking in with you regularly for approval at the various stages of development. The final half payment is not due until the entire web site has been completed to your satisfaction, at which time it will be available online.

Q. Will I own the web site and its graphics?

A. Once the project is completed and payment is received in full you will own the entire web site and all of its content. We reserve the right to display a small text link in each pages' footer and to include the site in our portfolio.

What is not permitted is the transfer of graphics or design to any third party. Any distribution, whether online, print or any other distribution method of any source code, graphics contained in the web site is strictly prohibited without the prior written consent of Burnett Communications or the third-party designer or developer.

Q. What if I need to cancel after signing the contract?

A. If you need to cancel the project after signing the contract any work already completed will not be released, including source code, graphics and layout. All we have to sell is our time and, once gone, it cannot be replaced. Therefore, the work completed up to the date of that request will be subtracted from the initial deposit. If any amount is remaining it will be returned to the client.

If there is a problem with our design, service or anything else please let us know immediately. Doing so will save us both time and money.

Q. What kind of technical support do you offer?

A. We offer 30 minutes of free maintenance every month as a way to say thank you for hosting your new web site with us. Whether you need to change some text or add some new photos, we are happy to do it for you free of charge. In addition we are also available to answer your questions Monday-Friday 9am-6pm. Simply call 205.989.9934 or contact us.
